new car is jerking

Hi guys, im kinda new here. Well i signed up a while ago and just bought my car. I bought a 94 325i. Black on black leather of course . But i noticed while driving, that if i for example, am driving at about half throttle, at 30 mph, in third gear, my car will jerk a little. Its not bad at all. But i noticed that my mpg gauge will jump a little while this is happening. Does anyone have any idea as to what this could be? its very frustrating because i just bought the thing. But i love it, im pretty pumped to have finally entered the world of bmws. Thanks everyone

Welcome to our world. ... you'll love these little machines. Your problem could be any number of things, from needing a new fuel filter, to spark plugs, to ignition coils, etc.

Since your MPG gauge is jumping a bit too, it makes me suspect ignition coils as I've seen this happen before. Their tach was jumping around too though. So right now I'd say to check your spark plugs, and ignition coils.

However, we'll need some more symptoms to narrow down the problem though. Like does it stutter than you floor on the gas at any time? Are there any sounds you hear while this happens? Backfiring? Tach dying? Lights dimming? Does the problem go away when you release the throttle?

Let us know a bit more information and we can help pinpoint your problem.

Justin

it actually goes away or i cant feel it after i floor it, but i have no idea.lol If i push the gas 1/4 way down, in neutral my rpms will go like 2500-2450 and kinda bounce a litte bit if that helps. Thanks for the reply
