How can I lock the flywheel without the special tool?

Hey guys back again, this engine swap is killing me! How can I lock the flywheel into place so it doesn't turn. I need to take the clutch off and flywheel on the m3 engine. HELP! I already got the pressure plate off but now theres about 8 17mm? I think sized bolts in the middle on the clutch dish and I tried to take them off but the whole thing keeps turning with the flywheel too!

Thanks for any info I am in a jam here as I have to return the hoist in a couple days!

heat up around the bolts ..use a power bar and a hammer ...that sudden impack should crack them loose

p.s dont heat up the bolts otherwise they expand ..just around them

Jobs like this REALLY need an impact gun Even those cheap Princess Auto $50 electric ones will do.

As for a lock tool, you just need a piece of 1/8" steel (or aluminum) about 6" long x 1" wide. Drill 2 holes, 1 on each end. Put in 1 pressure plate bolt in one hole, and attch to the flywheel. Put in one of the tranny mount bolts in the otehr hole, and attch to the engine. This will stop the thing from rotaing when you need to retorque the bolts (GET NEW BOLTS when you put it back!!!)

There is a really good write-up on this at: http://www.pelicanparts.com/bmw/tech...ch_Replace.htm

Has tonnes of pictures!
