The XRS uses a VVTL-i motor which is tuned by Yamaha.

It's got the same drivetrain as the Celica and Matrix XRS, and has the Matrix rims.

They are actually quite nicely spec'd out inside...Corolla XRS > Acura CSX/EL
This is your car if you like blowing by people incognito.

Word. I came *thisclose* to leasing one new, but I just couldn't bring myself to drive a corolla before retirement.

before I got my 330i, I was going to buy a brand new XRS. Very nice car....except its alittle too high for me(even dropped, it still looks high)! But took one for a test drive and its a blast to drive and that engine just screams!!!! Very nice suspension And it is abit of a sleeper since no one expects a corolla to have 165 hp...and if you boost it, look out, cuz that econo box will smoke you right off the road! Lastly, toyota quality...no need to explain that!!

Look at the compression ratio, how the heck are you going to boost that? These engines were made for economy, not performance. They are pretty weak, you'll blow that thing to peices at 4-5psi. It's stupid to boost economy cars. I've seen so many blow up because the engines are just not designed for boost.

That sucks dude, my 318 stock would have beaten a Corolla S. Please, brag about something worth while.

The XRS' 2ZZ is a GE motor- which in Toyota speak = the RACE motor! The FE motors are the econo-engines.

And about boost...already done, by Toyota Europe, they have a super special Corolla Compressor...215bhp!
