Supercharged M3 strikes again.

Ok, I promised my wife that I would not race anymore, however I could not resist plus she newer told me to behave today at all.

Looking down at my speedo the needle pointing to 110, grabbed for the lighted shifter on the M and slip into 3rd. With this the supercharger comes to life with sounds like a Hoover on steroids this awakens the exhaust which now drowns my stereo. Usually I turn down the stereo to listen to my M’s mechanical sounds while under boost. However I feel confident that there should be no problems this time, reach for the stereo and crank her up. With 800 watts of full power I select “Hell’s Bells” for this battle. Darn that sounds horrid, reach over and bring the volume down by a few bars. Ahh that sounds much better. Now with 500 watts of power for my victory blast I quickly glance at all of the gauges, all needles except that of my fuel pressure gauge pointing in the right direction I wait for the opponent to make his move.

Now you may be wondering; who is he racing? Maybe his shadow. If that’s the case there will be no clear winner and why waste the fuel. However my opponent just happens to be the cleanest white BMW e36 I had ever seen. Looking over at the car I can make out 2 occupants. Being at night time the car shows a dent less body and the smoothest white skin. Obviously this owner has spent many hours and maybe even day’s water polishing his entire vehicle to get it into this condition. One of these days my M would look just like that. I’m slowing down to have a glance the badge on the trunk, with my door beside his rear bumper, WTF?

Without warning the e36 jumps forward, I respond, the pedal to the floor; 5000,6000,7000,7250 shift into 4th glance into the side mirror, the opponent now 6+ cars behind I slow down. He eventually catches up to me and starts to pace me for the next 5 or 6 Kilometers. I roll down my window to hear the sounds of his exhaust; however all I hear is the sound of my exhaust being reflected back at me. I’m wondering…. There he goes again, this time I wait to see his badge, WTF no badge, he signals and moves to the fast lane. I’m stuck behind another vehicle in the slow lane. Finally there is an opening, glancing at the e36 who is 300feet ahead and pulling away into the night I down shift to 3rd with WOT 6000, 7000 shift. I start to real him in at a frightening speed. Shift into 5th and I’m clearly 200 to 300 feet ahead of him.

With my exit approaching I pick up my phone and press re-dial with a male voice on the other end saying “Hey” I responded “Your car looks so clean. He responded by saying “Your car has a dent is loud and fast” With that I exited the highway and watched this fine example e36 disappear into the night. Looking at all of the cars that surrounded her on the highway she looked like a shining star. Water polishing your vehicle makes a huge difference. Man I miss that car, however she has a new owner and he will take care of her.

Pulled into my garage glanced over at the 540I knew the wife was at home. Walked into the house and with a kiss she asks “How was your trip?” With a smile on my face I explained to her I raced a 1992 318IS and destroyed him.

It's also known as "water sanding" However some of us call is "water polishing" since we use 3 steps of paste to the detailing, the secret is water which takes away material that has been sanded off.

Done a few different ways,
1) Start using a 1000 grit sand paper and send the car while having a stream of water running over the area that you are sanding.
2) Next use 1500 grit paper
3) Followed by 2000 grit sandpaper.
4) Then going to a coarse paste however finer then the 2000 grit paper.
5) Followed by a finer paste.
6) More finer paste then the previous. Keep in mind always using water.
7) After all of the sanding is done you use a polish to bring the shine up
8) Followed by more polish
9) The last step is a sealer.

This took me 2 1/2 days just to do one car, with a slow speed machine.
Once done the car is just like glass and this makes the paint look very deep.
