Question 3M Paint Protector for the Hood

Has anybody used the 3M Paint Protector on the front of the hood? The clear film thatís placed on the front (Dealer installed). Iím worried about stone chips since Iím always on the highway.

Do they really work???

Well i have it on my car. It's good only if you can get them to do it right. I have 2 yellow spots on mine and it's starting to peel, the car is only 2 months old. I started complaining about it 1 month ago.

Other than that it works well.

It works awsome... I definitely swear by it and every car I own (worth-while) will have it. Like Laura said, it all depends on the application. Bubbles are hard to get out... you should use a heat gun to apply it better. I've logged about 20,000km the past 2 years travelling mostly in the States and managed to ward off any chips. If you manage to get a deal on some, let us know where, I'd like to buy more.

The place is called 3M Trim-line. They're located in Brampton.

Call Craig at 905-792-8746 (888-694-7777)

Personally i've seen too many cars where the tape turned this yellowy/orange color(from the sun??), and also seen many cars with exacto knife cut marks into the paint from applying it.

At the dealer..

I was thinking of getting it done at the Dealer.
B-K Motors.

They take the kidney grills out and apply it properly.

The dealer quoted $180. My buddy just bought a 2003 CL Type S, and they wanted $400 at the dealer. In retrospect, not bad I guess??? The 3M product is supposed to resist yellowing, so I think it would do the job!!!

How's the price???

I have it on my Lightning. It works, and as a plus, it is barely noticeable (if applied right)...

I don't remeber the price, but this is the same guy who does it for bmw. I'm sure he would do it cheaper than going to any bmw dealership.
