I dont find that funny at all because I used to be part of the kitcar scene a couple years ago. I have a Yellow F355 kitcar which my father and I completed together just last year.
Unfortunately after the speeding tickets I got, the car has had to go into storage because of the insurance rate hikes

F355 Kitcar
1987 Fiero Chassis (stretched)
Manually operated Convertible top
Caddilac Northstar V8 engine

My ultimate goal is to build a Diablo Roadster after I get married.
The f355 cost about $25,000 CDN from start to finish, it's only in need of the f355 dashboard piece to complete.
Everyone can laugh all they want, but to me driving around in a vehical that looks exotic even though it's not as fast as the real deal is enough to satisfy me =) (but this doesn't condone the construction of ricey cars =)

the body itself cost about $12,000 CDN to purchase, and the interior kit is another $2500, and ontop of that you need to buy the tail lights and reflectors from the dealer (yes the ferrari dealer ) as well as a whole lot of other stuff too...
it was hell of a fun project to build though, i skipped school all the time to work on it (of course i regretted it when i had to stay an extra half a semester to finish highschool, but driving the thing to class was AMAZING!)

I have photos of the car in process, i'll try and find my scanner and scan them (this was before i had a digicam)

the hardest part of building the kit car was straightening the fiberglass pieces, and cutting the car in half to stretch it longer...lots of welding and people helping out with that =)

I might convert the car in a few years to have flush headlights. I can use the ones off of a nissan 300zx to do that (same headlights the lambo diablo kits use)

there's a kit you can buy PRIVATELY through www.exoticrebodies.com to make a fiero look like the porsche carrera gt concept car!
They had to stop advertising it because of heat from porsche, but you can still get copies of the body pieces sent to you via courier

It's a much easier kit to put on than most

I saw a lambo countach kit car just the other day. Very impressive until it raced a ford f250 and lost

anyways.

If i had a kit car that wasnt the fastest thing, I just wouldnt race it! Anyone with a real ferrari prolly isnt going to race you. In my experience they wont even look at you! It's just a pickin up chicks and being pimped car

No no no you don't understand

It was the auto teacher who bought the fiero and the kit, wheels, interior paid to paint it ect. The money that was obtained through the profit he bought a new hoist and had it put in the school.

Trust me none of the auto students who actually care about the class feel ripped off

and the ferrari is not done!

ok that's a different story. But if he sold it for pure his own profit, that would be low. I kno wyou didn't feel ripped off, I'm sure you just went to school just to go to that class

DAMN! I have all sorts of kitcar magazines here, and am thinking of doing one myself. But, i'm not mechanically inclined and I don't have a garage to work on

Any suggestions where should I start?
