right now its 3.1... thanks thats good info.. I actually thought the sunbird motor was a v6, and I was simply going to swap in the 5spd and do the turbo plumbing.. as you can tell im not a gm man at all.. despise them really.

lol well we all drive what we like.
a 5 spd swap isnt hard but its involved, your almost better off just buying a 5 spd car unless there ssome significant semtimental value to this one or its in really good shape. yo ucold also just swap the 3400 top end over, but my personal choice like i said would be to go withthe 3400 swap, or turbo the 3.1

the 3.4 swap sounds good for the CAVALIARS or the 3.8 s/c is good too. Like J24 said it is what you like and how crazy you what it....

the 3.8 supercharged is a big swap for these cars, i know for my generation for example your spending about 10 grand to get it done, need a whole new front subframe made up, the 3400 is a much more practical swap, doesnt weigh the front down as bad and you can put a power adder onto it and make good power still wihle being able to turn

well it depends on what tire you use and what you decide to use for a tranny and just how skilled of a driver you are, plus also what you choose for tuning, but with a solid driver you can start out in the mid to high 13's and work your way down. plus those motors are tough as nail, a friend of mine had a supercharged 3800 second gen cavalier with a 5 shot and a 75 shot of spray, car made if i remember right something like 460 lb ft of torque on the bottle, lol, was definatly a fast car and one hell of a sleeper

yup thats the problem with a high powered fwd car, if you cant drive you wont go anywhere at all. putting the power down can be very difficult, my car make close to 300 wtq and i tell ya its a task to lay it down, cant go above half throttle for the first 2 gears, lol, and at 13 pounds of boost i spin third from a roll, lol. mind you this year ive got new tires which should be nite and day to last years kuhmo's.
you also want to remember that unless your kit is setup properly that anything you jet for on a car with another adder youll essentially double that power that your tryig to add. what i mean by that is if you have a 50 shot on a car with a turbo or blower then that 50 shot will gain you between 95 and 105 whp, so you have to jet the nitrous much lower for 50 hp or jet the fuel much higher

oh i know, these tires though are getting huge reviews, great ratings and lots of positive feedback. i guess ill see how i like them when they go on, but if you go across the autocross boards, the ae86 boards, miata forums and all the other car clubs that do go out and race regularly youll see that they talk very highly about these tires so im really hopeing for some good results
