4 wheel drive e36???

Hi, anyone here know's anything about converting a 325i to 325ix. I know that e30 and e46 had the 325ix but why not e36?

The problem is that e46 front wheels are further spaced out then the e36 and the e30 one has a narrower track...

You will also need an e46 IX oil pan as the front driveshaft passes through the oil pan.

The reason why there is no E36 AWD, is because E30 ix didnt sell.
Same for the E39, e34 ix didnt sell.
The reason why E46, E60 now got iX models is because everybody are offering AWD these days.

I know a shop that "might" try it....?
they made a few Corrado's Awd, fi'd, roll cages, etc.
they're also in Quebec.

But are you seriously ritch...? seriously?
and on top of that uber patient cause it would be uncharted waters!

Hey man, i'm just curious. I'm not planing on doing this, but i'm interested to hear from anyone who's done it. I think it's a interesting project, if you've got the technician that's got the experience to do it. Not because no one has done it means that it's not possible and you can say that you've got to be rich if you haven't taken the time to see what parts and work you need. And yes SickFinga is wright everybody is offering AWD these days wich Audi quattro guys are always making fun of our beloved RWD BMW'S. I've done the M50 swap in a e30, before i never thought this was possible and that i needed to be rich to do it. Every e30 owner had that same idea until someone made the project happen and delivered the information. So would'int be great if the next time you click on this thread, you will really find information about AWD e36 wich in the first place you where probably interested. Until then whe can't predict how difficult and costly this would be.

with enough money anything is possible.

Will it be worth it? Likely answer is no.

yeah Emotrolguy your gonna hear alot opinions from know nuthings about it,
cause I don't think any1 has ever done it.

having the smallest sadest amount of knowledge I can tell you very factualy the e46 awd drivline & accessories
& the astrinomcial amount of hours needed to figure it all out would be Very Costly..

good luck with your "research" though..

And I always get that from iqnorant people like yourself who donno shit about me.

Frankly if you have to ask about this kinda stuff, you dont have what it takes to get it done.

But you seem to think you know everything, so why are you asking for help on the internet?

except that an e46 driveline won't work because the front control arms are too big, the front axles will be too long as will the tie rods.

ideally you'd have to do a mixed e30/e46 conversion with the following:

e46 ix transfer case
e46 ix front and rear differential (same ratio)
e46 ix oil pan (modifications required)
e46 ix drive shafts (front and rear) will probably need to be modified

e30 ix front control arms ($$$)
e30 ix front shocks???
e30 ix front axles
e30 ix front carriers
e30 brakes???? (probably not, stoptech???)

e36 front spindles???

custom fabrication to mount front differential, positioning of rack and pinion, sway bar???
