I've had Deluxes for a while
they are alright. Good in rain (wet) but not very good in cold temperatures (need to warm them up a bit before they start biting)
So the pattern is saw with them is the following: when i just start driving, after car sitting overnight, they bite like crazy for first couple of pedal pushings. Then they bite sucky. Then they start biting good again after two or three good brake pedal pushings.
I attribute the initial great bite to the mosture that accumulated on the rotors overnight, but i coud be wrong.
it's the only ones i had on the car so cannot really compare to anything.

The HPS grab like OEM cold, but drive hard, and they grip like hell!! The harder you push them, the harder they stop. Had a nice drive through the forks sunday after I finished rebuilding my brakes.

^^ so you put HPS's right after rebuilding your brakes? reason i am asking is i am trying to figure out if rebuilding the brakes actually makes difference in feel/performance of the brakes and not just preventative maintenance

I did a lot at once. Rebuilt brakes, new rotors, new pads, stainless steel lines, super blue fluid. All has led to much better pedal feel.

Coincidence. I just did my front pads/rotors last weekend, to match the already rear Hawk HPS and blank rotor combo.
The difference in braking is AMAZING. I had Pagid pads, and I always hated them; every time I braked from 180+ (which is every day in the summer for me, haha) they would glaze over by the time I was down to legal speeds, basically falling on their face and crying for mama. I was actually really scared it wasn't the pads and something else was wrong, but the Hawks solved everything.
Pedal feel, initial bite, heat capacity, everything is so much better. And I didn't do any other brake service, either.

Yup, and that's just their street pad. BTW, when is the last time you changed your fluid Jay? It's a good habit to change it once every two years, and bleed periodically.

Alan, Terry had HP+ pads on that car. Very different pad, those dust (and make noise) like a bitch. Awesome on a track though.

Haha, it's been WAY too long.
I'm going 5.1 before track season.
