the car is auto i would assume so there might be some loss from that, also there is that good old friend turbo lag which from what i remember (parents had the 850 T5 and V70 R) with the larger turbo there was a signifigant ammount of it. my gears are also setup for hwy so from a drag perspective i would expect it would proly be 50/50 on the hwy would be a bit more interesting, although the auto is a 4 speed and i have no idea what the gear ratio is on that also our cars are basicly identical in weight, yours is lighter by around 90-100lbs... we will see if i feel like it...
The T5 is a HWY monster. Turbo kicks in at about 2500RPM. It is a High pressure one, just not sure how much boost it makes. When in the SPort mode, the Volvo keeps the gears longer, and shifts up and down a lot more to keep you in the boost range. The T5 has more HP, and according to you is lighter, sounds like an advantage. Only one way to see I guess.

I don't think the T5 stands a chance. If the 545 is faster than an M3 e36, its faster than the T5,

325hp 330lb/ft vs. 236hp 240lb/ft if the 545i didn't win i'd be shocked. boost pressure on the T5 is around 8 or 9psi if im not mistaken, don't get me wrong, i know that the T5 would proly be faster and certainly proly from a start FI is almost always faster, but on the hwy would proly be a lot closer since both cars are really ment to be hwy cruisers. that said it's really not worth the risk/gas if you want i might do a quick jot to around 140-150km/h but right now im trying to stay ticket free cause i don't want to get raped when my insurance come up next year... i respect volvo's and have always loved 'em seeing as though it was the first car that i learned how to drive on, they are very good value and last forever, and the turbo's on them are very nice, the one i learned one (V70R) would cruise all day at 250-260km/h smooth as glass and could easily keep up in the corners and with the AWD even in the winter it was like it has tank tracks.

The biggest problem I see with this location is that on most Sunday evenings in the summer the lot is already FULL. The wife and myself have driven down there and had to wait for parking in the past. Its quite popular spot for families taking their kids for walks along the lake.. picnics.. etc..

Maybe I can coax my daddy into lending me his new ride ('06 Lexus IS350) for a three-way showdown.

Haha, it's ON!! LMAO.

I must say though, the E60 545i is all sorts of fast. I'm even with E46 M3's on the highway.

there is a total of 5 parking lots down there. and the 2 that i am talking about people always seem to by pass for some reason. worse case scenario and we run out of room then we can move it to a different location. maybe oshawa by the lake. they have lots of parking down there. but i think we should deffinatly keep it on the lake. we'll just have to see what happens at the first meet.

I seriously want to see a 545i vs. IS350 race. It'll be damn close.

And I'll be going down there the week before we go as a group to see the traffic levels, etc. guys. No worries.

Cool.. I've just always parked in the first parking lot by the pier. I'll have to check out the other parking lots.

Looking forward to the first meet..
