The radio code does not go into your OBC, you press the numbered buttons on the radio deck itself.
You have 3 chances to input your radio code before it will be locked out. Once it is locked out, you either have to disconnect the battery for another three chances, or wait with the ignition on for 1 full hour. (yes, the ignition MUST be on.)

There is a different CODE that can be inputted into a 11+ button OBC. This is for when you leave you vehicle you can input a security code as an ignition kill. You will not be able to start the car again without inputting the correct code when you come back to your vehicle.

what kind of issues?
the only thing is, that i remember justin saying that its VERY hard to retrofit an 18-button OBC into a car that has only the 7-button OBC. is this correct?

ye its hard to retrofit the 18 button obc into the 7 button obc, because there is alot of wire tapping to do as i learned from Justin before i bought the 18 button obc

Yes, it's very difficult. Mainly to get this one silly "Check" button to work, which checks a number of your circuits.. (i.e. brake lights, tail lights, turn signals, head lights, washer fluid level, etc.) and tells you if there are any problems. A lot of wires to run to every corner of your car.

but mine's a 11 button, not 18 button. from what i remember, 7->11 button is direct swap (with juck norris' blessing)
its got some pixels that dont work well. other than that, it works 100%

it will work, but not 100%. the check button will not work. there will be no additional functions from the 8 button, other than having a nicer (though more problematic) display.

damn it, thats so depressing
so, is there a write-up on swapping from a 7-button to an 18-button? im just curious to see exactly HOW much work it is...
if not, then its ok. i just wanted to feed my curiosity.
