A) i dont know what your point is, about the cars...

B) what do you know about the 4+3 tranny? it came stock in the corvette from 85 until about 89, i believe. and i'm not saying its a good transmission at all. i'm saying we still won, even with the funky 4-speed. although, the 4+3 isn't as bad as many people believe it to be. with a short-throw shift kit, its half-decent.

not trying to rag on you or w/e but how do you know he wasn't letting you win... i know i will sometimes have cars roll up want to race and then i purposely slow down just to let them think they won so just for shits and giggles, i always imagine them going away and saying "dude i just beat a tl/5er and raped them" lol i always laugh when i think of that...

would have been a cool race to see. if the vette beat him and he was really trying hard, then props to the vette

actually & just checked the net, the only way that the Audi A8 is going to win against a 1985 vette is if the Audi is a A8 W12, the normal V8 won't come close to the vette, but the W12 would win for sure, but that is also 450hp in the W12

Even better, the V10 in the S8.

thank you, Quack.

the V8 A8 really isnt that impressive. it was fast, but not as fast as we had expected.

im sure the V12 is a very different story... but its also starts at $170,000

the W12 is a luxury engine, yeah it does have alot of power, but its heavy and low revving. the V10 is for sport performance.

I'm still unsure.... power to weight is an easy answer....but Audi IMO is ****ED

supposedly all Audi cars are nose heavy (and they "should" be) but the weight ratio is fairly even. It makes no sense to me, so dont ask me to explain, but I still think it would be a fairly even race. I could hardly pull on a stock V8 A8 when my car was stock. Trust me, it aint slow.

88 Vette -13.2lbs/hp 9.5lbs/torque
06 A8L - 13.1lbs/hp 13.8lbs/torque

Vette has torque advantage, also less powertrain loss.
But power to weight ratio is pretty even.

P.S. Highly doubt A8 is comparable to C5.
