M3 vs. S55

I get to drive a 2005 M3, and I always thought it was quite fast, but then came along my dad's 2005 Mercedes S55. I don't know if anyone has had a chance to race one of these (I've only seen 2 before, and ones my dad's), or any '55' AMG for that matter. But wow, the thing is ridiculous. I was driving the S55 one night, and my friend was in the M3, and I smoked him everytime. I was spinning the tires at 65kph and still pulled away from him. Then again, I don't think he was driving the M3 to its full potential. But even so, everyone I know that has been in both cars thinks the S55 is faster. It was a fun race though.

S55 AMG
Power: 493hp
Torque: 516

M3
Power: 333hp
Torque: 274

I wonder why you beat him.

And that M3 is still better then S55.

Yes, but S55 is much heavier too. I raced an older model on the 407 - with the 540, not the MagNumb, and was able to hold it off. I'm not sure what the HP is on that though. I saw a black S55 on the DVP Tuesday. What a hot looking ride!!

I've driven both of those cars, the S55 is fast mother****er, but it's obviously going to smash a stock E46 M3.

Bring in the real car, E60 M5.

haha, ya, my thinking was, I'll drive the $170,000 car, he can drive the $85,000 car, that's the only reason. However, my parents knew he was driving it, so it wasn't as 'sneaky' as this all sounds.

my father has a S55(no SC) and a SL55(has a SC). My M3 will out run the S55, but at higher speeds its close cause of the torgue. Don't even think about the SL55, no comparison, blows by me.

The Non-SC S55 is about on par with a stock M3 but at higher speeds it will pull due to more torque.

The SC models (SK55, S55, E55, CL55,..) will blow the doors of a M3

FYI, SLK55 is Non-SC.

the new SLK55 is just as fast as a C6 vette. I would not mess with a SLK55 in a straight line, especially from a roll.

I love the new and old SLK, especially the old 32 and new 55. Just something about them is amazing to me.

And Stalker, ya a new M3 should take a non-SC S55 everytime, but the newer ones with the 493hp (just like your dads SL55) is ridiculously hard to beat, if possible at all. The power of the big MB SC V8's are incredible, can never get enough of it.

Best part of them is the ridiculous wheel spin on demand, so much fun, lol.
