Arrow Apple PowerBook G4 Battery Charging

I just got a G4 and am having a problem running the laptop off of battery power. It only works when it is plugged in. In addition, the charger should turn green when the battery is fully charged. (In my case, the light is green but the battery remains at 0%). Also, the small indicator lights on the battery do not light up either. Is this a battery, laptop or charging technique problem? HELP!

Please keep Apple biases aside. Thanks

Is it new or used?
I find that G4 Batteries need to be replaced about once every 2 years .

I called Apple Support and they said that they are aware of G4s having a minor battery problem. So, he directed me to a battery update.

http://www.apple.com/support/downloa...eryupdate.html

I have MAC OS X 10.4
The update doesn't work for this version.

try removing the battery and putting it back in. other than that your best bet is to take it back to whichever store you just got it from. its weird that your cable light is staying green when the battery isn't charged.

if you recently got, it, take to the Apple store at Yorkdale and get a new one. What size is it?

I fixed it. It just needed a "battery update" from the Apple Support Website. It was just a matter of sifting through and finding the right one. This is one piece of beautiful machinery.

Also, what virus protection programs are people generally using for powerbooks. Any suggestions?
