The only real reason to do a 5 lug swap is if you want to go with a high performance brake upgrade, and even then there are still packages to provide more than enough breaking power. 5 lug offers a wider wheel selection, but the majority of those wheels are made for newer model cars and look out of place with e30s. You could get halfway to installing a turbo on your car for the price of the swap.

well the variety of wheels would be good, but also the bigger brakes and the suspension upgrades and everything

There is no magical brakes or suspension that you can't run on 4lug. Thus your reasoning is moot.

A rebuilt stock e30 suspension is enough to handle aggressive driving. Unless your drifting you'll be fine with stock parts. Stick with 4 lug and you could spend the extra cash towards a nice imported set of rims.

Second that. There is also a huge variety of 4 lug wheels that look awesome on e30's

out of curiousity, is there really much performance gain from swapping to 5 lug, say if I were building a racecar. just want to feel out build costs for a high performance e30. is there a point? and more to the note of wheels for the 4X100 bolt. civics are the same pattern as are VWs and there is quite a pronounced market for those cars. I don't think ull have any difficulty finding rims

I have a couple more HP and TQ then he does. I need the brakes and rubber. I run 255's out back and 245's up front.

Besides, I get all my parts for pennies on the dollar. He is going to spend thousands for no reason.
