Air Filters??

What would you guys recommend for a relatively inexpensive air filter for an e30?? I dont have too much experience working on cars, but i am fairly mechanically inclined, so im not too worried. Looking to spend 120-150 for the new system, and would like to install it myself. do you guys reccommed anything, anything i should stay away from? Cone or Panel?? I have so many questions to list, so if you could give me some advice, thatd be great! THANKS!!

Why do you say stock jordan?? Because you think bimmers should be preserved with the components they have or because it is better than other performance filters?

Chrome, K&N cone filter??

jordan says keep stock air box beasue ppl say they have compared a cone/tube setup compared with the stock air box and the airbox has peformed better even with the tube/cone with a heat shield........i seen the comparison charts and all that shit. what chrome means by the drop-in filter is a filter u can get from canadian tire that goes right in place of the stock one. the K&N one breathes better givin it better air flow which give you better throttle repsose = more power.

Because there are no power gains to be had with a cone intake, heatshield or no, on a m20. It just plain is not a point of restriction.

The only things you stand to gain having a cone intake is more crap entering the engine, louder intake noise, and having to clean it every other month or so.

I wouldn't even bother with a K&N drop in filter panel for the stock airbox. Its been proven ON A FLOW BENCH that in a e30 airbox the stock filter flows BETTER (significantly at that) then the K&N drop in.

But waste your money however you like, I don't care.

Yeah it really sucks to have to replace a $5 paper air filter every 20,000 miles.

Jordan - do you have flow #'s for the OE paper filter vs. the K&N drop in one?

Yeah.. pulled right off K&N's website. You think they would ever post shit that wouldn't sell product?

Look for independant studies online and you will see.
