cost: 15 bucks and a timmy's coffe (medium double double if i remember correctly)

rico, unlike me, has a job, a wife and a kid, so he can't just go screwing around with bmw's all day (like i do)

but im sure if you ask him he'll try to accomodate you, i've worked with him a couple times in the past, great guy

engine lights are not as big of a problem as you think...alot of the time they only come on because its giving out bad emissions... when mine came one the crankshaft was out of timing...yah i know wierd...and that cost me 125 professionally to do it

Depends on where you go. Alot of independants won't charge you the diagnostics if you fix the problem with them. I know personally my father's shop doesn't charge diagnostics if you repair the car there. And if your a customer already, then he never charges for it because he knows you will be back to fix the problem. My advise to anyone is to find a good independant mechanic that specializes in your brand(this applies to any make, BMW, Benz, etc) and stick with them. That way when you have a problem, they will be willing to help you out and give you a break. Cuz lets be honest, these cars are great, but there is always something to be done, whether its maintenance or actual repair.

I download the TIS software off the net but I need to know what type of cable to use for the E46. I seen the guy connect it near the hood release.

Cel?

Someone say my name???? It's $10 + a coffee. Scan/reset and even email all the codes to you. Hell of a lot cheaper than taking it to the dealer. Give them a call and see what they charge....you'll freak!

Think I paid about $140 for the Peake Research RFX2.

Let me know if you need my services.
