door sill removal

can some one tell me the easiest way to remove door sills without damaging them or clips? Thanks Dave

... front ones are quite easy.. you can actually slide them back, then lift it up. The clips will remain in the door frame, and you can slide the sill back on afterwards.

The rear ones are a bit more difficult if you have a sedan. You'll need to punch the clip out of the retainer at the back, then use a flathead, or claw, to remove the pressure clip. Then you have to be very gentle to pull up and push forward at the same time... I still haven't mastered it. Replacement clips are available at the dealer inexpensively though. (I think it's like 40 cents each?)

You got it. The front door sills are on tracks... you can slide it, and pop it off.. the white plastic clips will remain in the holes in the doors frame. A lot Oof people try pulling it up and end up cracking the sill, or destroying the clips. BMW is pretty good about making a certain technique to remove everything without breaking it, and so it snaps back together to look OEM again.

thats what i love about BMW, they take the time to engineer the cars in such a way that parts can be taken off and reinstalled without to much hassel or need to replace parts. Unlike most domestics where you try and remove something and every clip and part ends up breaking..lol
