car sputtered, and died, then started. then drove, then wouldn't go over 4000rpm,

It was feeling kind of weak this morning, got to work. Went for a drive to the other location, came back, turned off my car, when 5 minutes later went to start it up again. It turned over, but wouldn't start. Took a few tries to get her started. then she started, went to the other location, turned it off, and when i tried to start it, same problem.

Then on the way back to the home location, when it got to 4000 rpm, it started sputtering, so i pulled over. It idled fine. Then i hit the gas, went to 3000 rpm, and sputter, then 2000 then started sputtering at idle, and eventually died. I waited 10 seconds, started it up, and it started fine. and drove too.

Drove it for 5 minutes, and it didn't die. Does anyone know what is wrong?! I'm thinking fuel pump, but of all the fuel management parts, that's the most expensive,

fuel pump, clogged fuel filter, possibly intermittent ignition coil.

i've got my back seat out, so next time the problem happens i'll listen for the pump. it's running now. it's really quiet, i wouldn't have heard it with the back seat in at all!
