not prewired.. you'll have to do a LOT of wiring in your vehicle to get the 18 button to work on a stock 8 button vehicle. Maybe this summer I'll finally do it.

yes all functions work including code and range and all the hidden functions. AFAIK 4 cyl cars wont work with the swap. Search bimmerforums for more info on this.
PROPONE: Get in touch with me when you're ready for the swap.

You program a code and your car won't start without first punching the code in. I don't know about e36 but on my previous e30, the horn started wailing if you tried starting too many times without the correct code.

the code feature, when activated, stops the car from being started until the code is entered. It's in the owner's manual.

wow, sounds cool. although I have no clue what the 8, 11, or 18 button OBC are.

since Justin always has the answers to my dumb questions: Justin, could you post a pic of each, so I can see which one I have. then perhaps explain the differences. thanks! hope i'm not too annoying with these questions...

@BMWFORLIFE: what kinda car do you have? is your also a 318 convertible?

only if the car came with the 18 button OBC would the inward clicking turnstalk be already funtional. I'm sure you could always swap that too if you wanted it to work just like OEM
