Frozen Locks - Serious Problem

How do you guys remedy this? Any tech articles or anything? This problem is horrible.. the drivers door as well as the trunk both freeze up very bad, to the point where they would bend my aftermarket cut key if i were to turn any harder. After i get the car unlocked, i also have the problem of the door not closing.. ie the latch is frozen open and will not latch onto the striker.

Any tips?

Thanks

power locks would need to be fully functional and working without any problems for the keyless entry to work right?

one question no body ask so far. did u wash ur car lately? if u did, want for a warm day, use an air chuck and try to blow out all the water in the lock cylinder & latch. then spray them with whatever grease u can get hold of.

BEST way to unfreez a lock is to get a running car, warm it up to operating temp. and put a hose/duct in the exhaust...then place the other end to the lock you want unfrozen! This is the method CAA uses in Quebec City (gets very cold!!!)...i got it from living there a few years! Remember that de-ice liquids may NOT reach all parts of the lock mechanism...but the hot exhaust fumes will heat up the whole area!

Most if not all Canadian spec E30s have this feature. This is the reason we can't have timer delay interior lights.

Cdn E30s have heated locks, heated side mirrors and I think all have heated washer nossles.
