the base plate is difficult, there is always way to modify them but get the right one in the beginning to save some headache.

base is a bit different, bolts holes are completely different (will need to drill new ones, and have a way to secure it. bolt & nut perhaps. The mirrors themselves will fit.

I custom fit m5 mirrors to my car, and it wasn't too difficult.

Why would you wanna do that? Instead of bastardizing a good set of M3 mirrors why not get these ones, http://maxbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=63338 and give me yours.
