Yeah, but the regulations on domestics are much more leniant than on imports. My 3.8L olds passed with numbers that would have failed my 325i.

my e30 with 205,000km passed with flying colours but my old dodge stratus had trouble passing with 225,000km. we had to spend the limit for the e-test when it finally passed.

I understand that, however the amount allowable to the 3.8L GM was 4 x that of my BMW, which isn't directly proportional to displacement.

they are set by the standards issued by the year it was produced, i highly doubt that the govt would make it stricter for 1 vehicle then another, all vehicles must be tested with the same standardised forumula,

it could vary well be that ur GM's allowance was 4x higher then the bmw, but the % of allowance for emmisions is probally the same as the bmw if the GM polluted more then the BMW from its production year, then it will have a higher allowance then the bmw...

Guy @ work went 3 times before it passed with a 96 Civic, Each time had entirely different readings despite the same trek to the shop for emmisions testing each time it went in (fixing nothing in-betweeen visits). I have no confidence in the this latest scam.
