Conditional Signatures
Was thinking, with the size of these signatures/pictures it would be a good idea to add conditional rule to the signatures. There's a vBulletin hack available called "vBSEO Conditional Signatures". You can set it so there must be a minimum word/character count before the user's signature will appear.
In a nutshell, the signature only appears if the user/member writes something with content. Otherwise, it will not show up. A minimum word count of say, 100 words would make sense. This will also help conserve bandwidth and make the threads quite a bit more readable.
edit: Here is an example of a thread where so many signatures makes it difficult to read.
Just an idea.

hey justin, when you defeated hitler, is it true he begged for mercy on his knees for 20 minutes until you laid him down with that final delt smash?
(i think this is a great idea. Even moreso, i think some of the big videos could be hosted elsewere, i can only imagine how much BW they take up)

I think that 100 words is a little much, some people use their sig for important matters like buisness and don't necessarly write so much per post. Not everyone who types something substantial writes a novel and 100 words is a lot. I think this is a good idea just need to bring the limit down a bit.

I'm no a fan of this.
Sigs are there to help people identify and remember person easily.
The only limit I think Bruce should implement is the sig size.

Im not a fan of this either, but I do think restricting the sizes of them will help, for instance limit them to being shorter.
Lindsay's sig is an example, but she is not the annoying ones....she doesn't post much.
Edit: Actually i just noticed you ment 100 words in the post and not the sig.
That makes more sence, this way the annoying sigs dont always show up.
Sig Limits + this =

I woudln't mind at all, I dont' really care, but I don't really think it would save bandwidth since the sigs are cached anyways.

Simply limit sig size (image, and lines of text)
I can't stand sigs that take up a full browser viewport on a 1024 x 768 res.

i agree..a sig should only take up a certain amount of space on the post..
for example:
start of sig:
--------------------
--------------------
end of sig.
in that space is what you have to put a sig. so if you don't have enough space then cut something out.

I would set it up so that a user's FIRST post in a thread has a sig (depending on the 100-word conditional rule), and all subsequent posts by that same user in the same thread do not have a sig.

avg size of an online sig is :
Height = 150 pixels
Width = 500 pixels
so why not make that the sig max size ?
