Never buy unknown chips, it could advance your timing too far causing severe engine damage. Do you hear detonation?

Remove chip, see if problem persists. If so then you have bigger fish to fry.

get the jim conforti chip, or if you have 93 octane(cali) get the mark d. Ive been hearing nothing but good of these chips, and nothing ubt bad of ebay chips. Im serioudly considering purchasing the JC soon. Heard a lot of good things about them

i know... im just saying that if you have 93 octane gas you should buy the mark d. If not, the jc and mark d are good chips.

Conforti vs. Mark D 93
JC or Mark D is the way to go, BTW I think JC = Tunerworks as far as the chip. Some people prefer one over the other, but realistically theyre both close and the best choice for your E30.
I would personally go Mark D, he's local, seems very helpful, and you can go to him for adjustment or other things if you need once running his software.
Plus hes a Max guy, c'mon now.

I've had a slew of chips in my e30 over the years, until most recently putting the stock one back in and getting aftermarket (piggyback) engine management via UNICHIP.
Anyways here is the list of chips I've had, from the best, to the worst.
Alpina B27 copy (doesn't apply to B25 guys)
MarkD 93octane
JimC
ActiveAutowerks
Dinan

Jordan, did you notice any major difference from one chip to another or just slight things that gave one the edge in your opinion (over another).
And whats your current setup? never heard of UNICHIP, but interested to find out.
