How much would a 10 minute tow be ?

Ugh, so I mentioned once in another thread I ****ed up and registered my car as unfit.

This means that I can't get teh 10 day permit to safety my car.

So I either have to drive it, or get it towed...

The car is parked at my sister's condo, which is 6 km away from the mechanic.

How much would it be to tow it there? I don't need to tow it back cause I can get a friend to pick me up from the shop, then drive me the ministry where I would register the car and get plates, and then go back and pick it up and drive it.

Thanks..

Or should I just drive it? What will happen if I get caught driving without plates? And I have unused and unexpired plates but they're from a silver mercedes, so if they ran it I would be ****ed. Which would be better, no plates or those plates?

Anyone have any hookups on towing or dealer plates or anything that can get the car to the mechanic for cheap?

Thanks.

put some other plates on there, and have someone drive behind you. don't make any stupid moves.

if you need a really inexpensive tow, I recommend Miguelton towing. Don't have the phone number on me tho.. it's in my glovebox. ... really reasonable prices.

Honestly, for such a short distance, I'd listen to these guys. Just slap some plates on, and drive the car. I would do it at an early hour in the morning. Maybe 5-6, not many cops out patrolling the streets at that time, and no traffic, making it less time for you on the road.

Use the plates you have! You are allowed to use you valid plates as a 10 day plate (as long as you have insurance), so IF you get pulled over, just say you didnt know about the "unfit" deal. The most you can get driving with unproper plates it $500 if i remember, and thats if the cop is a real ass!

Another "free" way of towing is with a tow rope, and long as you have 2 ropes hooked beteen the 2 cars, its legal (and you must have working brakes, lights, etc). I know because i have been pulled over while towing like that!

Hey, why not just sign up for CAA for the year. I'll cost ya like $75 for Gold, then you'll have it all year if you need any more tows or anything else they provide. You can sign up today and use your first tow, tomorrow.

Are you serious? I can use plates from another car on mine, legally???

Sweet, I'll probably just do that then, thanks a lot for the replies everyone .

are you with CAA blitsix? I think the first 5 km are free for light users, and 25 km free for the full members?

Geez...

It'll be $35 hookup + $25 for the tow.

Play it safe, just tow it. Signing up for CAA or another autoclub will give you a few more "free" tows.

CAA is a good idea but of no use to him. You need to wait 5 days from the registration date to be able to use it.
