They are the best winter tire out there. Good luck getting any of the more common sizes now though...
Steelcase and Wheels Direct both sell Nokians, but last I checked they were out of the standard BMW size 205/55/16. Some members say that tire shops in the west end might still have them.

great tire indeed, made in Finland, design for their weather, if it's good enough for them it's good enough for Canada

I have Nokia RSi on my car right now, 235/45/17, pretty good for snow tires, the dry grip is lot better than other crap, although you do have some of those 200mph capable Michelines out there, but this is good for the money.

Ihave been preaching Nokians for 6 years. Best snow tire on the market. They make a little noise but nothing unbearable. also not a performance tire so keep that in mind before trying to take the ramps at triple the posted speed.

They are no longer the best.
The Michelin X-Ice, Blizzak WS-50, Kumho KW-11, and others are all better overall, according to Consumer Reports (which do excellent tire testing).
But, like any other marketing, people will still claim they are the best and "feel" they are better because it is drilled into their conscious that it is true. Unbiased testing shows otherwise, however.

Interesting, just did a search on Kumho and stumbled upon russian review of them.
Results are different.
Studless tires:
1. Nokian Hakkapeliitta Q (7.9 points)
2. Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 (7.8)
3. Continental ContiVikingContact 2 (7.6)
4. Michelin Maxi-Ice (7.5)
5. Goodyear Ultra Grip 6 (6.6)
Kumho KW11 with studs only got 7.0 points

For anyone who cares i can translate the charts

None of the tires list by Jay are american.
The only american tire tested by russian magazine was Goodyear and yeah, it got the second lowest spot. The only worse tire was russian made, and it lost by .1 point to goodyear
Kumho - Korea
Michelin - French
Bridgestone - Japan

The Kumho KW11 was the #1 rated tire a few years back, the Michelin X-Ice is now (though the Kumho wasn't in this recent test).
For my personal standpoint, I just went from my Nokian NRW's to the new Nexen Eurowin's. The traction on dry/wet/snow/ice is WAY better than the Nokians, which still had quite a bit of tread.
I would scan the article (which shows how mediocre the Nokians are nowadays) but my scanner is throwing a fit.
