Surprised no one mentioned Bad Santa.
Anyway, when I was a kid I liked Police Academy 1-6, but now I dont think its funny. Same thing with Airplane and the rest Leslie Nielsen movies.
here is my list:
Elf
Bad Santa
Dodgeball
Super Troopers
Don't be a menace to the south central
Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (definitely not the funniest movie, but my favorite)
Get Shorty
Be cool
Hot Shots 1/2
Shrek 1/2
Snatch
Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels (I got TV series too, HO HO HO)
Shaun of the Dead
Big Lebowski
Anchorman
Spaceballs
History of the World: Part I
Robin Hood Men in Tights
Scary Movie 1,2
American Pie
Here is my opinion on some of the movie mentioned
billy madison and happy gilmore ( I didnt see Billy Madison, but Ive seen Happy Gilmore and other Adam Sandler movies and he plays the same role over and over which is not funny)
harold and kumar going to whitecastle - it watchable, but not that funny
animal house - watched it couple of times, dunno why its considered classic comedy
40 year old virgin - barely any jokes in it
Zoolander - wtf????????? the only funny part is the "house for the ants", the rest of the movie is stupid just like the rest Ben Stiller's movie (btw another actor that plays the same role over and over)
Clerks - never understood why it was funny
Napolean Dynamite - when I was watching it, I thought it was stupid and really not funny. But then when you talk to someone who watched it, and you start to remember the funny parts and they seem funnier. But yeah, definitly not a top 10 funniest movie.
Friday - IT IS NOT FUNNY!!!!
Monty Python Movies - im too young for them, they were really boring to me.
Mars Attacks! - I dont get it.

You guys mention movies that are way too new. The new comedies are all lame. They're all the same awkward situations, dirty mouth shit, like harold & kumar, american pie, wedding crashers etc etc etc etc. It's all the same movie with slightly different characters and story. Airplane! is an amazing comedy and does it without swearing or characters being awkward Seinfeld retards. I like what Ebert said about these new comedies now, how all of the "problems" in the movie would be over if one person said one word, but he's too stupid and just makes things worse (so they could continue for another 2 hrs).

It definitely not true.
Before comedy was kicking people and watching them get hurt all the time(charlie chaplin) and it was considered really funny.
In 80-90 there was another type of funny, pretty much funniest movie would be the dumbest one.
That was the trend back then, and yes I thought it was funny, but watch those movies now, and they wouldn't appear as funny anymore.
Now there is a different type of funny, swearing is being a top priority, yet Shrek and Elf did really good without it.
And I got a question to movie buffs,
Whats funny in these movies:
I Heart Huckabees
The Royal Tenenbaums
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
All those movies got great reviews and are comedies. I watched all of them and I did not find ANYTHING remotly funny in them.
Anyone found them funny??
