I never re-boot my laptop. THe closest it comes to it is Stand By, when I am carrying it around.

Hibernating is a laptops best friend, I use it all the time.
Start ups are fast, unlike stand by it doesn't use battery power while off.

For those of you who never turn off your computers, you should set your harddrives to spool down after like 15-30 minutes or so to save on bearing wear (unless it's a server). Aside from that leaving your computer on for a long time shouldn't cause any problems, just restart every now and then to clean up your RAM and swap memory.
Just curious, why do you guys leave your computers on all the time?? Sorta seems like a waste of electricity unless you have a valid reason. Most computers use like 60-80W just idling.
Even setting your computer to standby is a way better option, and it's instantly on when you touch the keyboard, hibernating is about 10 seconds to boot up (all my computers are when I'm not using them). Or have it standby or hibernate automatically if you're not using it for like 30 minutes.

I have 2 macs that only get restart for a software update. Desktop mac has been running for 5 yrs and ibook for a year. They go to sleep mode when not in use. This is one of the great things of OSX. Runs best when always running.

the reason for not turning it off is because when i'm at home... i'm usually on my comp in one way or anyother... i don't have a couch, only a computer chair... so if i watch tv, i'm usually ont he comp at the same time.. if i'm doing dishes, eating, laundry, sleeping, w/e. i have winamp playing...
when i goto school, it's usually not all day, only a couple of hours... so i feel there's no point shutting down =/
it's been a habbit from when i started using the computer.. when i served on mIRC, it was on 24/7, 365.
