speeding ticket

my buddy was following the flow of traffic he was going low 80's in a 60 zone, when a cop pulled him over and gave him a ticket

what are his options? if he went to court what could he do?
i know there's ways of fighting a ticket off. i just dont' know what exactly to do. lol

also.. it was HALton (oakville) police, and the cop was technically in mississauga when my buddy got the ticket? are cops allowed to cross territories and ticket ppl in other citys?

any suggestions

thanks guys

Book a court date, then from there when the date up get a friend to go for the guy that got the ticket. Scope out the court room and see if the cop is there, if he is then say to the judge that the offender couldnt be here and re-book a date. If the cop isnt there then just plead not guilty. On the second time, you get another chance to see if the cop isnt there, if hes not then just plead not guilty, if he is then just ask the judge to get it reduced. Thats how i got off on about 4 of my sisters tickets!

the boundaries dont matter , if he was in miss bundary when it happened then the cop can follow him into oakville to issue the ticket i would go and fight bring up the point but i dont they will show up to court.

Even if he was going with the flow, cop is justified to pick one out of the crowd, b/c that's all he can do. Don't use that excuse in court, cuz it won't get you anywhere.
May have something with the boundry issue, and if you do, the cop will likely not show up. If that's the case, plead innocent, and don't let another cop or crown try to get you to plead guilty to a lesser charge. (They sometimes do that if the attending officer can't show up.)

I know for a fact that:
A) Reigonal Police (Peel, Halton. Metro) have every right to police anywhere in the province.
B) Provincial Police (OPP) also only have durisdiction within the province.
C) Federal Police (RCMP) their duridiction in nation wide.

So to sum up, no that is not a valid point to bring up because they have every right to police in the next township.

Oh, and if you really want to get out of a ticket, I recomend taht you don't do this unless it's a big traffic violation but what you can do is pay the fine, but don't pay the correct amount. Lets say taht your ticket is $700 and 5 demerit points, you write the place a cheque for $710. Then they will procide to mail you a cheque for the diffrence of $10, but untill you cash that cheque the inccodent is still pending and therefore not on your record.

If this loophole is exploited, I'm sure they’re going to correct it.
Defiantly worth a try though..

Exclamation Speeding from experience.

I have 4 tickets on my record, 2 from toronto, 1 in mississauga, and 1 in oakville.. so heres my $0.02 from experience. Toronto cops dont show up. Get a court date at the keele/Lawrence courthouse and you are set. Mississauga and oakville cops would rather miss the birth of their first child then a court date so dont rely on non-attendance. My tickets were for 48kms(this was 3 years ago), 46kms, 5kms(reduced on the spot), and 44kms(the day after the 5km ticket!)respectively. As soon as you walk into the court, they offer you a plea bargain of the level beneath your current ticket.
This means anything between 30km-50kms is reduced to 29kms + 3 points, anything between 16kms-29kms is reduced to 15kms + no points. So my ACTUAL record is 29kms, 25kms(got a $400 lawyer ), 5kms, 29kms. Yes.. my insurance is high. All points stay on your government record for 2 years, and on your insurance record for 4 years. Im 1 ticket away from an "interview"

Jeez, with that many tickets, I'd seriously look at a radar detector.
