Isnt there an incident reporting system where you work? That occurrence should be documented. At that point of what had happened to you , you could have refused further work in regards to your safety by simply saying that:

Under the Ontario Health and Safety Act I feel that this is an unsafe working condition/environment and they cant fire you. At that point there would be work stoppage and an Inspector from the Health and safety board would have to show up and investigate before work can be resumed.

You could of caused alot of shit for them and they deserve it for their carefree attitude towards your safety and your life.

I almost had a 30ft tree thats like 2 feet wide fall on me last week when i was cutting for some firewood....

I was finishing and it was my last one.. i got disoriented and the ****er was comming down.. i panicked and ran and my wife was SCREAMING.. i didnt look back but i saw a huge ****n base land about 4 ft from me.. that woulda squashed me like a bug?? or broken my back?shoulders? i dont know...
