Playstation 2 vs X-Box

I'm just curious what everyone thinks of the two?
I believe eventually i'll buy a ps2, but not any time soon. My friend bought X-Box and thinks it's tha sh*t, but i tend to disagree.

X-Box is good... but I don't like it because

1.its microsoft (just about everything else is too)
2.its a computer fitted into a box, stuck in front of a tv

if you want graphics THAT good use your com..... the thing isn't a console

ps2 also has way better games like metal gear solid 2 or grand theft auto 3 - and there's always the mod chip

Well, I'll disagree...

I just sold my PS-2, and bought an XBox instead.

Visuals on the XBox are much better than the PS-2

And it's not "just a PC". Yes, the basic hardware is there, but the stability is much improved on XBox, since Microsoft has direct control over the hardware being used on it (as opposed to the PC).

Available software for the PS2 is a lot better, but since it's been around for 18 months, that's not hard to imagine.

I've had my PS2 since summer of 2000 (had a Japanese PS2 first, and then bought a US version in October of 2000), so essentially, I was bored with it.

I'm fairly happy with the XBox. Visually, DOA3 is pretty impressive.

I've played both and personally prefer PS2, it has way better games and yes the mod chip is key
X-Box didn't seem like anything special to me because the games werent that great

I'll get an X-box only if it doesn't give me the "blue screen of death."
