guys... 2006 Civic SI or 2002 540?

some guy wrote off my other civic so i need a replacement.. they are both roughly 30 grand

theres the civic with 180 hp 6 speed, Lsd , sport suspension and a bunch of other goodies.. or a 540 with 282 hp and a 5 spd.

guys pros and cons. and the fact its a honda isnt a con.
]
yeah basically my back is completly ****ed.. i cant sit stand or sleep

the guy ran a red and smashed me good while i was going left. I was going as slow as possible and waz being as safe as possible. and i still managed to get hit... he was in the right lane and decided he wanted to make the light while it was already red.. he pulled out from the cars turning right and gunned it through the intersection.. he wasnt paying attention to the light.. and he smashed me doing about 60.. ive had endless back pain since wednesday.. your not supposed to feel the pain from the accident until after 24 hrs.. but believe me i felt it then and now. I cant do shit.. and I ****ing hate people that cant drive.. im thinking whats the ****ing point of getting another car so someone can smash it.

this car just got out of the body shop cause some drunk guy hit it while it was parked.. 7400 damage... 3 weeks later.. this moron comes along and ****ed me up. End RANT

**** man

I'd say go with the brand new honda.. the 540 has no warranty.. honda is brand new with full warranty.. si is also 197hp or something.. not 180hp..

BMW will rape you for parts.. and is just going to look more and more dated.. the si is a brand new gen honda with at least a couple more years of production with same body style.

Also, honda is better on gas.. Prices are too expensive to ignore this fact.

+ cheaper insurance
+ higher resale value
+ better winter handling

**** man
I heard that the person turning is always at fault, even though the other person runs a red light going straight ... is that true ?

To answer your question, I'd get the new civic si.

Unless you have a 3rd party witness to say that the guy ran the red light, then it's your word against his and person turning is at fault.

Anyways, to answer your original question- i'll get the BMW. Get the Honda if you can't "afford" the BMW- which seems to be the main arguments made so far...and dude, RWD!! Don't worry about winter- BMW makes the best stability control system in the world.

bimmer is safer if you get hit too. i was hit by a semitruck, and walked away, i was pushed 170 yards in front of that truck, never thought about it again, bimmer saved my life. try that in a honda.

honestly, if I had to ask myself that question, I would ask myself if I need to worry about milage, cuz that is the biggest difference by far.

E39
Looks better
faster
way more luxurious

Civic
Cheaper on insurance
warranty
way cheaper on gas.

It all depends on what's more important to you. Personally, I'd get the 540. And btw, its not 5spd, its 6spd.

Because most of us aren't biased.

Personally, I would look into other cars then the Civic. There's so many cars out there brand new and used, in the 30k range that are really nice and might still have warranty too!
The 540i is a sweet car, but parts, labour and the fact that it's getting dated doesn't really help. If it's a 540i M then you should definitely get that!

CIVIC!

I'm getting rid of my 323i as soon as I have it fixed and can fool a dealer into taking it for a trade...

the civic interior in heated/leather seats doesn't look that-that bad.. not as nice as the 540, but still nothing to shake a stick at. the sport kit helps the exterior styling some. as everyone said, it's up to what your goals are. a civic is a smarter choice, the bimmer is a nicer car.

Plus, if you can wait a few months you can grab the new 3-stage i-vtec hybrid motor... still a high performing engine, lighter than the previous, with a regular civic shell, and uses very little gas. With gas prices on the incline, you'll be loving the $$ savings compared to the 540 engine. The technology really is impressive.

Plus keep in mind with the civic hybrid motor you get a payback $$ from the government.

the premium u pay for the hybrid isn't worth the money u save if you just bought a regular civic.

i cant believe there is even a question.

get the civic, if you even have to ask you dont deserve a bmw.

edit: reason, in 10 years, when half of the civic's body will have rotted/rusted away and the car will barely be running - the bmw will still drive (and look) like like a new car

you just cant compare the two, they are different classes of vehicles. i cant belive that given the option of either, you would have to think about it.
