I have to learn how to drag race though. I've never done it, and I am probably gonna make an ass of myself the first time down that 1320 ft track.

I'm curious to see if I can run even with an E46 M3. More than likely they will take me after the first 1/8 mile (aerodynamics, weight), but I might as well try!

Nice car btw Gamite, I love the E34 5 series. There is a nice one in my area (Yonge and Royal Orchard) black with E39 M5 rims. It looks real sharp. I love those Hamanns you have on there, it makes the car look aggressive but at the same time classy (kinda hard to explain).

Are you gonna be there on the 11th?

Thanks for the compliments, I'm still undecided if I want to go or not, I'll probably just spectate.

Nice Truck.

Did some research on the Lightning before I bought my M3.
I've read on the internet about someone who regularly dragged his Lightning. Noted that there tricky to launch, being automatics, they would prematurely shift into 2nd when in first gear when launching, so manually shifting is a must. Secondly, he found that it took him a while to learn how to launch the truck properly. That SC engine has a ton on torque, so it's difficult to work out just how much power to apply.
I'm sure you'll have fun practicing though.

With all that torque (450 lb-ft), I don't think that aerodynamics and weight will impede your progress as much as you think. If you launch that truck properly, it should be a close race.

Oh by the way, you've got an E46 M3 that'll race you!

Alrighty then selva, its a deal!

Do you have the SMG II gearbox or is it full manual?

Also, have you ever run a 1/4 pass before? More than likely I'll screw up somehow lol ;-)

The Lightnings are surprisingly easy to launch. Boost comes in a linear fashion. Dont get me wrong, the roots-type blower ensures full boost even from low rpm, but the boost doesn't "explode" like some turbo applications, thus making launching a bit easier. The Goodyear F1's on the truck do a really good job of hooking, provided that one doesn't floor it off the start. From what I hear, its best to roll out 8-10 ft. on 1/2 throttle and then jam it. Guys who do this get consistent 1.8-1.9 60-ft. times. Personally, I'm looking for a mid to high 13, and then I'll be satisfied. I was gonna run with a chip and an airbox mod, but I decided that I am going to run stock so I can have a baseline to work with when I finally add some mods. There are a few tips and tricks that I've learned that apply to any car that should help me out a little with my time (e.g. weight reduction).

Is anyone gonna bring a video camera?

Btw, I'm lovin the Euro-spec 19's!

The M is completely stock, even down to the filter.
Going K&N, just haven't got arount to it yet.
It'll be the first time with this car I'll be running. The SMG Launch Control should make it a fairly easy procedure though, unless I manage to screw that up.

Just past the 3K mark, which should be enough of a breakin.
I've been a good little boy with the M so far. It's now time to play.

Damn that launch control !

I wish I had that too lol. I'll guess I'll have to rely upon my sticky 295/45/18 F1's.

The Lightning is also new, only about 4700 km on it.

So boys and girls, its stock for stock M3 VS. Lightning.

What do ///M3's pull in the 1/4 on average?

Smile 10/04

Now I'm 75% there but don't finish work in Brampton till 5pm.
I won't be at Krispy Kreme till atleast 5:30pm. Do they let you run in the dark? It sure does get dark early now. Also, my car is slammed-does it matter and 1 more thing (sorry it's my 1st time-be gentle) do we need a helmet.
I will confirm by noon tomorrow.

the whole race thing starts at 7 which like u said at this time is already dark at that time and goes till 11 pm. here is a pic when we went the other time (for nothing they were fixing the track) i don't see any lights but i guess there are some or who knows.
slammed car i don't think it matters since most of the rice-rockets there are slammed anyways.
about the helmet thing i don't know i think like moerom said only if u car is faster then a certain time then u need a helmet
