ditto.
it's about the time spent together, not the money spent. romance is personal, it'd mean much more if you made a candlelight dinner for her in the privacy of your own home, instead of paying someone else to set your table, put candles out, cook your food, and clean up.
but what do I know?

The best place in my opinion is Canoe. Randy took me there for my birthday food was awsome and so was the service. A bottle of wine, appitizers, meal and then coffee and cake was about $300. (right in your budget...lol)

north 44 is overrated. I've been there and wasn't really impressed for the $$ I spent.
If you want great service, amazing food and nice ambiance, I highly recommend la castille. It's a "castle" as the name implies. Amazing steaks etc, and if you want, I nice piano bar and small dance floor.

I've been to La Castille and I wasn't very impressed. The food was good but I think it was a little over priced.

Does $300 food taste better then $50 food?
If I had to spend $300 in one night with my GF, it'd be like a $50 meal, a dozen roses, some ice cream cones on the beach, and the extra $200 I'd buy something she could at least keep and remember and maybe even use.
In a year what are you going to look back to..."Remember last year we spent $300 on food and ate it? Yeah that was great."
Better I'd rather just get her like 100 $3 instant win scratch tickes, she'd be off my case for a couple days and if she won she'd feel obligated to share the wealth with me.
I could feed myself for two months at Dominion or No Frills with $300, that's a lot of cash for food.
