I think the S54 m coupes and roadsters only got 315hp as opposed to the NA spec E46 m3's 333 hp

shorter driveshaft, hence only about 12-13 % loss as opposed to 15-18% on the e36.

the 01-02 only have 315 due to different exhaust. same engine, different intake, same headers...

I've got the entire M3 (e46) midsection on mine... bolts right up
