non bimmer car troubles
Hey I don't know if this is the right place to post but I was driving my GF's car home tonight and I parked it in front of my house and left it running. I was playing with the wheel and when I started turning it the rpm's started to die. I turned it back to center they started to die again and then the car just died out completly. It will now not start and it won't turn over when trying to start it all I get is the started clicking. All the lights are still on batteries good. I thought maybe it was the altnerator but im not sure. It's a 96-97 sunfire(I know I know it was free). Any ideas whats wrong? Thanks

Don't know why it shut off but the clicking could be the starter.

Get a crow bar or a hammer with a metal head and tap the alternator a few times with it, don't smash the alternator but give it a few light hits on the metal piece of it. Then go and try to start the car. See what happens.

Try boosting the car if it starts than your alternator is bad (not producing enough charge) if that doesnt work than check your starter
