Ricey Suprise

Heading home last night, I was in crazy driver mood. So at the lights at Markham Rd and 14th, heading East, I was about to let it rip. The road there is a big S turn, where most people drive at turtle speed. Sitting at the red, I look in the mirror and see an E46 change into my lane behind...hmmm I hope he's going straight, but nope, he turns right. It's an M3.

Light turns green, and I get up to 100kph for the S turn. I look in the mirror...hey, someone's I pick up the pace to see if it can keep up. I get up to 140, then lightly apply the brakes to indicate that I am slowing. Right lane ends here. Further down the road are more S turns so I wait for the car to catch up, then go again when it's safe. I can't tell if I'm pulling, but the car is definitely not falling back either.

I turn into my neighborhood, and so does the other car. I still can't tell what it is, so I move to the opposite traffic lane and stop with the window open. The car pulls's an Acura 3.2 TL. The driver tells me that he was messing with the M3 (his buddy) which is S/C too. I didn't ask, but I think the 3.2 was stock. It had a subtle body kit on it.

3.2 TL's are tanks and not very fast IMHO. I beat them all day in my VW; rolling starts, highway and from the lights.

I haven't driven one of the new TLs, but I've driven a friend's 1999 3.2 TL. From a standing start it was pretty quick, but on the highway it sort of fell on its face.

TL's aren't exactly slugs IMO. Especially the newer 270hp ones w/6spd manual. They'll definitely give many cars a run and a whoooping. I had a run in with one a while back. Old man w/the older 3.2TL type-S, and I couldn't catch him - from a dig even. I didn't launch, but waited for him to get the jump intentionallyl. Good run, and I was impressed. More with the driver being in his 50's and playing hard like that. I'll run into him again one of these mornings. Would love to line it up w/the new TL's and see how well I can keep up!?!?!!

They're capable of doing 100 in the mid 5 to high 5's! That's not slow! I just want to see if i can KEEP UP! All things even, I'll get my ass handed to me.....
