Hey Mystikal. Just bought my first BMW. It's a 1990 325is e30. The wheels the guy had on before where all chewed up and ugly. It's dropped a couple inches but, I haven't gotten coilovers yet. Just wondering if 16x8 +20 wheels with 205/45's will work.

Wheel's/ adapters
Yes i am going through the tire adapter thing right now on a 89 E #30. That should be a perfect fit to spare. It seem's like not to many Mnfr's have a void in the 215'45-50-15 range so 16" should be just right.

what are the ideal tire sizes for uprating to 17s from the stock 14 inch bottlecaps? i just bought a set of 205/45/17 speedy gtr sports but they catch on the front and i need spacers. Can you direct me to the size of spacer i need and whether its necessary to buy hubcentric rings for the rear wheels which fit without the spacers? also the offset of the rim is ET40+
cheers in advance, great thread have learnt a lot from the 15 or so pages ive read but 83 pages means this will be my bible till i workout the right set up!

205/40 or 215/40 are closer to the correct diameter. You also want that wheel's offset down to +20 to +27 or so. Check the offsets and see what spacers you need.

If the offset of the stock bottlecaps are +33, how far do i want to deviate from that? and to bring down a +40 offset wheel down to +33 does that mean i have to get a 7mm spacer? Also is it a big deal that the profile of the tire is wrong? i mean apart from the incorrect speedo

E 30 tire fit
Hi I post some new photo's in my album for you as i spent the summer and a few extra dollars sorting this out. So i will help a fellow Bmwer out. Car is an 89 with roller rear fender's only, front plastic inner cut a bit. Rear converted to stud's with lock tight (225/50/15), front's 1" billet adapter's non-hubcentric with 205/50/15.

I did get a hub-centric ring for the rear wheel's, A 10 min, or 20 MM spacer will work on the front. But it will stick out farther than the back unless you buy a wider set for the rear. Thus 1/4-3/8 " per wider size with each wider tire. Example a 225 is 10" wide, 215 = 9 5/8",205 closer to 91/8-1/4, 195 between 8-9 etc. The 205 with a 1" Thick adapter on front, has the same width stance as the 225 on the rear see photo. Hope this help's adapter's are 1" thick, spacer's 10,20 etc. Hope this help's

ohhhh that makes a lot of sense. will it be super noticeable though? cos i plan to just cruise on the rims. I got them today and i put them on the front and back to see what my spacer options would be, it shears on the front brake caliper but there is no scrubbing anywhere else even under full lock. which is good news! I reckon a 5mm spacer would do it for the front. Is it worth spacing all four so that the stance gap isnt as noticeable?

E 30 spacer's
Glad that helped you out. Not sure if any MNFR"S make a 5 mm . That why i tried to explain in detail, You either have to spend the money and do all ( 4) to make it look the same. Or do it with different tire's (STAGER). It wont be really noticeable be the eye can detect it when it's parked. So keep cruising LOL LOL.

Hey all! Looking to pick up some Enkei92s for my E30. They are 15x7, inset of 38 if the enkei charts and the seller are correct. I was wondering what I would have to do in terms of adapters, hub centric rings, spacers or what have you. I'm completely new to this and wondering whats necessary and what is overlapping info. Any help is appreciated. Thanks for your time!

Mystikal,
Thanks for doing this. Awesome job
I'm having a custom set of BBS RS's put together. And need advice on what the offsets should be set at for fronts and rears.
Car - 1991 e30 325i 4 bolt
Suspension - full ground control coilovers
Wheel sizes I want - 16x9 rears with a 3" lip, 16x8 fronts with a 2" lip
What offset is going to get me flush without spacers?
Thanks in advance.

E30325, you should ask msinger about this too for his experience. He built the same wheels.
