Mystikal,

I'm hoping you can help me out. I'm currently running 225/45/16s on Rota Slipstreams - 16x8 et20. There aren't a lot of tire choices in 16s. I'd like to go to 17s or maybe even 15s. Anyway, I have GC coils and the UUC BBK. I have no rubbing at all with my current setup and absolutely love it. I just want to get into something with more tire choices. I'm thinking something like 17x8 et40 with 215/45/17 tires? Tons of tire choices in that size. What would you recommend for something close to my current setup that won't rub on the caliper, suspension, fenders, in both a 15 and 17?

Thank you. Great thread and tons of knowledge you're sharing.

However they would look ace on an E30.

In your opinion, among all the possible sizes and shapes, whats the grippiest size tyre the E30 can take, assuming fender rolling isn't an issue?

Thanks
Probably the 235/50/15 Toyo R888. Car can't be very low and the gearing has to be in check, but the combination of section width and light weight of the 15s makes this potentially one of the fastest non-race setups IMO.

For a pure street tire, 235/40/17 has all the good tire models and will also just fit.

Apex Arc-8 17x8 +25. Custom made for the E30, huge brake clearance, light weight, takes a 235/40/17 with a basic fender roll.

I don't sell the Apex's, not sure how to get them in Europe.

No spacers needed, I spec'd those wheels myself.

Sounds like ESM. You'll need to run 205/40 F and 225/35 R along with a flat fender roll in the back and reasonably stiff springs.

The rear fenders have already been rolled with intentions of doing this you think it wil work with the suspension I already have? It's vogtland springs with kyb shocks. I'd anyone has any pics of the same or similar set up that would be much appreciated thanks again for all the help.

You won't be able to lower the rear as much as a coilover setup due to the progressive springs, but it should work. I'd budget for coilovers soon afterwards to get the stance just right.

Either of those will require 3mm front spacers to clear the front struts. With the 16x8 205/50 215/45 or 225/45 will all work. For the 16x9s go with 205/45.

No spacers needed. Those specs sound a lot like the (fake) RS' I once owned.
