Ok the specs on my wheels are:
16x7
42mm offset
(16" Motegi R7's)

Tires:
205/40R16

And spacers are 1 1/4" on each wheel.

I'm curious now, with this setup with the lowering springs and spacers with 16x7 rims, how wide of a tire could i fit on the front and back? and what would be the best profile to get for new tires? Thanks!

Jay, I apologize for a series of newb questions yet again, but I searched through several pages on this thread and can't find my answer. You've helped me in this thread before, but I feel my "plans" have changed. Anywho,

I scored a ridiculous deal on two sets of tires this weekend at an auction. 235/45/17's, one Pirelli set, one Goodyear Potenza's, both still with plenty of life left. At the price I paid, I'd be dumb not to get them. Worst case scenario I make some money off them. Was thinking I'd take chance with some dirt cheap tires and possibly just buy some wheels to fit the tires, instead of the other way around. Fingers crossed..

Anyway, any chance in hell I'd be able to stuff them under this thing? '86 325e. I guess I'm not terribly concerned with having to roll the fenders if I have to, as I'm already planning to do a lot of chopping when we stuff a 302 into it this winter, but if it's just straight up absolutely not feasible then I'll throw 'em on Craigslist and just make a few bucks, and go back to the drawing board. Again.

Edit - Found some wheels on eBay just now. Possibly a match for these tires, at least on the rear.

Made by ESM. Looks like they do a lot of Euro stuff. I'd have to get a set of rubber for the narrower front wheels, if bought in that specific eBay package, and I'd have 8 rear tires to burn up then. Otherwise maybe try to stuff the fatties on the front, too? Would much rather buy 2 narrower tires than modify fenders and suspension components, tho. If I got the staggered package would I have to run any hub rings or spacers?

Those tires won't fit an E30, at all. Sorry man. They're too tall for any 3 series.

ESM (Eurostop) makes lots of E30 fitment wheels, google them to see their full non-ebay site.

They will fit fine. Even a 225/45 would clear without any mods.

im also looking to run 16 on mine aswell - just trying to figure best size so i can run with no rubbing - i have yet to do suspension - i guess ill drop after mounting tires to see what i need - i want to have some sidewall to the tire so i dont feel every crack in the road - but i also dont want to much so ill have to much roll or flex in sidewall - so it's a crap shhot - lol - i guess ill keep reading the post for best options -

I have an e30 M3 with J-stock suspension will
BBS RS-GT 18x8 ET35 with tire 225/40-18
and
BBS RS-GT 18x8.5 ET38 with tire 225/40-18

fit? I will probably need a spacer I was think around a 10mm, if you could suggest a size that would be great. 16x7.5 ET20 with 225/45-16 are on it now

15mm all around is a good, conservative setup.

so those 2 wheels will fit? Will I need to roll the fenders because it looks like it will be quite tight. Anyone have the J-stock with these on their E30?

No rolling at all, that setup is barely more aggressive than a stock 16x7.5 setup on the M3.

ive been running 14"s on bav auto lowering springs

the real questions are...what tire size should i go with? and do i need spacers ?
i dont want any rubbing.
