There aren't really any performance tyres available in 225/50/15 in Australia. Do you think a 205/55/15 would still be okay on a 15"x7.5" Ronal?

I've answered this one at least 5 times in this thread. I think twice this year.

They simply don't fit. They will eventually get on the car with pulled fenders and chipped paint, but it will still rub and the fronts will be sticking outside of the arches.

They also make the 521 in 16"x8" +20, surely that would be a better fit. What size tyre though on a 90 model 318is? 205/45/16?

16" no-spacer wheels?

Hi Jay,
Fantastic thread - 5 yrs and still running! Love reading it; gotten thru about 1/2.
My question: I have a 1990 iS, tired of settling for off-brand/iffy 14" tires, looking to upsize. Lots of nice 15x7s out there (OEM baskets, Beyern, Team Dynamics) in 25-ish et, but I like the tire selection in 16" better - ie. 205/50/16 or 225/45/16 vs. 205/55/15 -oh, did I mention no spacers, stock fenders, and I'm also tired of speedo reading +7% w/205/60/14? Figure I need about 24" diam, similar to stock 195/65/14, hence not 205/50/15, etc @ 23.1,2,3".
Having trouble finding 16x7et25, except $$$ BBS and Alpina. (Would love to have the Alpinas, but don't have $4G+ to spend). Any recommendations?
Thanx!

^the XXR 521's I'm talking about a few posts above are 16"x8" +20.....close.

I also have a 1990 is (albeit a 318is) and have the same dilemma. I don't really want to roll guards and certainly won't be pulling anything on this low mileage example.

They definitely need a spacer on the front, as the rears will be poking and the fronts sunken way in. 15-20mm is good. 205/45/16 tires all around is smart.

I like the Ireland Stage 3 springs. Nice height, good rates. Best paired with Koni dampers.
