As you can see, I joined the forum back in '04 when I got my Bimmer as a college graduation present. I was gungho on fixing it then but for whatever reason I didn't really get anywhere with it. Needless to say, I never posted here until earlier today, thus I might as well just be a newb.
Anywho, I've got a few really good friends, their dad, and his nice shop for encouragement to get this beast running (6-7 years later!) and we've already made some decent progress. If I were to make a thread about my project for pics and updates, what section should I put it in.
And thanks a ton for the help with the wheels!

No problem. For the spacers try www.ecstuning.com, as for the rings www.discounttiredirect.com is usually good, or try a local wheel/tire shop.

I have a fairly simple question. I have 14" basketweaves. Currently they have P195/65R14 M + S tires on them.
My question is, can I go with a wider tire and a lower sidewall with these rims? I think it would improve the look, what would it do to performance and handling?
Thanks,
brent

Absolutely, but there are almost no tires made in such sizes anymore. 205/60/14 used to be popular, but it's almost non-existant today.

You won't need them (the wheels will clear the suspension just fine), but it'd look a lot better with 10-15mm spacers, yeah.

Pulled or flared fenders. 0 offset wheels are simply not made for E30s, realistically.

20mm spacers all around, 215/40 tires, hubcentric rings.

Sportmaxx 501 16x8 et15
Just wondering if they will fit the E30 without any mods needed. Would be sick, I actually want the black center with the chrome lip.

I have a 90 325i convertible and I found a set of rims I'd like to buy: 17" Mini Cooper wheels with 205/45/17 and a 48mm offset. What would I need to do to make this work? thanks

Either custom adapters or machining of the hub bore plus regular spacers. The Mini wheels have a 56.1mm bore, which is 1mm smaller than the E30. Spacer size, 25-30mm (yes, huge).
Figure $200-400 in hardware just to get the wheels on.
