I don't know - I'm 50/50 on this...

I understand why it would be a good thing, but in the wrong hands, it's definelty scarry.

I'm thinking it would be great to track kidnapped kids, etc.

It's almost like if you don't think it's useful, what are you doing illegal that you don't want to be tracked? (hypothetical question)

I don't quite agree with a crazy level of integration, like tatto's etc. But I think having a retnal Identification system would be good.

im all for it.

I didn't watch the video yet, however, Im still are for microchips..
If it will stop murder, crime, rape, illegal drugs, then thats a plus. Face it, whats the big deal if big brother knows were you are?

and yeah, what is it you have to hide? Personally, I wouldnt mind such an implant, so what, the government already knows where I work.. Sure, they can now find out who my friends are, my favorite bar, how I like to speed, where my room is located in my house... Does it matter??

On another note, I definately would not want to have to pay to have such a system implemented. As long as taxes arent increased and life stays the same, I dont care.

i don't want that in me....why? cause i rather be free of everthing then always having someone know where i am and what i'm doing. it's kinda like invasion of privacy also. if they forced me to get one of those i would break it so they can't track me. i rather get a tattoo barcode or w/e instead.

I think most of you think the government cares a bit too much about you.. If they implanted a microchip in all of us, do you think they would be tracking you or watching you? Do you think they could possibly have there eyes on every single person in Canada at any one moment?

I higly doubt it work like that. Infact, for most citizens with jobs, and the such, You would probably never be tracked by the government. Only if your name pops up somewhere.

This sort of system would be more useful as to see where and what newly released prisoners under parole are doing..
To check up on ex-criminals, to check up on people with criminal records..

I can only guess as to how it would work, but basically what I think is that it would all be stored on a computer. When they want to check someones activity they would run it up on the computer and see the locations they have visited.

this would be awesome in the court of law, where an alibi doesn't exist. Murders would be easily to track down/ figure out..

I think people should stop being so rebelious... Im not saying conform to anything and everything the government says, but, dont also think that you are so important that you will be watched every single step of the way..

If you want people on parole to be watched, then implement it only on them. Its invasion of privacy...If this happened what would be next? Cameras located at every street corner, in your house? Government has enough ability as it is to find out where you are and what your doing.. Why make it easier for them.

.... and what is your arguemnt about that? only invasion of privacy? Is that the only argument all of you have?

Ive listed the benefits, what are the cons to it?

What if it is easier for the government to locate you? who cares, what are you so worried about? and what is it that you have to hide? I think if anything thats what the problem with this world is. There would be far less problems if people werent so secretive and malicious.

No one said anything about cameras in your house, and I doubt it would ever advance to that, as a locator device is more then enough and more then useful.. What I dont get is what are you so secretive about?

like I said before, what difference does it make to you if the government knows where you are at any particular moment? aside from "invasion of privacy". Why not make it easier for them and save them time in solving problems?
are you a terrorist? no, so then who cares? and if you are, then Id like to see you brought to justice..
my "privacy" is something Im will to give up if it means we can live without any fear. Fear of being robed, murdered, hassled in the streets.

and what i mean by giving up privacy, I mean by having the government knowing where I am at any point in time with a tracker.. But thats my limit, and I m sure its the same with most people.

Cameras at every street corner would not be a bad idea.

if every single person was tagged with something like this, then crime would be greatly reduced, you could travel to any area without having to worry about being robbed. I mean the possibilities are endless..

But whats next? they start with micro chip and next thing you know you are a zmobie, and under control of goverment from their PC...playing Counter Strike for fun of it.

No seriously... if people will agree to the chip, then they will think of somthing else... like another chip to your brain to enhance your memory or other stuff, and later you find out you are half robot lol.. F that.

sirex I think the reason people don't want it not because they don't want to stop criminals, etc, but because they are afraid of what's next.

Think about it. If they impliment this at first it will be great, murderers will be put in jail, there will be much less crime, etc. Great, right? Yes, but then what if they take it further. What if (and now this is an extreme example) using this chip they can tell which road you're travelling on (in your car) and how fast you're going (using basic math, like some distance vs time and see your speed) and then automatically send you a ticket to your house if you're going 5+ km over the limit ??

This chip aside, what if they do some thing that allows them to monitor everything on your computer? Would you still agrue that this is GREAT because it will catch all people with child porn, terrorist, etc? Or would you realize that it IS an invasion of privacy because they can take it further and if you have one copied program on your computer they will come to your house and arrest you. Or if they monitor EVERYTHING you say on messenger and if u say something "suspicious" they will come after you? By your theory if you have nothing to hide then it's ok for them to do this to your computer right? But the point is that people don't like being tracked 24/7, not necessarily because they're criminals but because it is just not right for the government to have the power to watch EVERYTHIGN you do, because you never know how far they will take that power...

For identification reasons then sure why not chip but I wouldn't go beyond that. I don't know about you but personally I wouldn't feel comfortable knowing that someone is there watching my every move I make even though I still have nothing to hide. I bet we all are saing that but IF that thing happens then I'm sure we'll get used to it
