Head Unit?

I want to install a new headunit for my girlfriends E36 325i but i heard if i change the head unit i must change the speakers or else the speakers will sound like shit with the new head unit,is that true?

yes you have bypass the old system becouse it has amps in the car......

I dont have an HK system....do i still have an AMP for the stock speakers?
