because under the safety regulation we have in Canada, the car need to withstand a frontal collision of around 7km/h (i am not exactly sure if it's indeed 7km/h) without any mechanical damage to the car. and unfortunately because of the way they mount the intercooler, Evo cannot be legally sold in Canada without some extension modification around the intercooler mounting design. plus, since Canada is a very tiny market compare to US, and Mitsubishi doesn't really have the image of a manufacture that builds serious cars, i guess it isn't hard to understand why they don't try to make the car "safe enough" to sell it here.

i've had a little chat with the person, who does the product planing for Mitsubishi for North America, during the press day of the auto show in Toronto. according to him, Evo X will be totally different from the IX, and will be more of a revolution than what the name suggests ironically. so if us Canadians will be getting an Evo, that will be it.

And that would be when? Year 2015?

But i think there's a way to bring one here and register it, i saw one selling in autotrader.

there's no problem about bringing one here from the states and do whatever you want with it. it's just that Mitsubishi cannot sell it here as a brand new car.

i am not sure when that'll be. 2 years later maybe? but by then, i am sure STi will be superior.
