Job.

Technology Coordinator for a small firm.

We're entirely on Macs here, which I've been using since I was 7 years old. I'm one of those who is in denial about being a geek.

Welcome to GA, Geeks Anonymous.

Im Alex. Today, we will all take turns telling each other about our geekiness and about things we have done to put us into this 'stereotype' by those who are less intelectual and computer illiterate.

My geekiness began when I was young. My father introduced me to my first computer, and, Wing Commander. From then on my love for computers grew and grew. As the internet was introduced to me and became more powerful coupled with the release of Windows 95, my internet addiction troublesome. Before long I was hooked to IRC already in my begining stages of pirating I was getting music, and using ICQ and email. Before long, Windows 98 was released and everthing went up a notch.

Half life was released which ultimately consumed me. Soon enough, I had a clan going, and then I created my frist web page. Learning how to use HTML I bloated about how great I was on the computer. But before long HTML became so wide sread to the point where even girls knew how to use it. So it was time to learn something new. Visual Basic. Although I never became a VB star, as I was to lazy to learn how to program, what I did learn was how to make a clock, and some simple programs.

Here I am today. Downloading warez like a junkie who needs his fix, along with learning how to program Java. My friends always ask me for computer help, as I am known as the computer master between all of them.

Hobby, but Im always on the computer

Im into gaming, but mostly hardware. Im always browsing the tech sites like hardocp.com, and their forums, looking to see whats new and comming, or getting that extra bit of performance out of a rig.

While I was in High School I did a lot of 3D modeling with 3D Studio Max, and using AutoCAD, and other various digital programs, ie Photoshop etc. . I still continue to play around with them every once in a while, but not much time in University.

Oh, and I download a lot of stuff too

I have 7 computers in total, 5 routers, 3 switches, plus boxes of misc parts that I have 'just in case'. You never know when you need an ATi PCI rage card for no reason..... This stuff seems to come in handy though when setting up small networks for labs that I have to do at school.
I'm exactly the same way. I haven't realise how much shit I have until I had to move out of the house. Two big monitor boxes full of spare parts, and 5 or 6 semi-gutted computer cases. God damn did I feel bad throwing that shit out.
