Thumbs up 540i vs Neon SRT4

Last night I thought I just have too much work to do, itís getting to be too much maintaining 7 vehicles for one person. So I got up early this morning and shot over to Canadian Tire in Grimsby for a few items; 12Ltr of Mobil 1 10W30 synthetic motor oil, 400Grid sand paper, axel grease, STP engine oil flush and STP fuel injector cleaner.
Turning right on to the 2-lane service road there are 2 stop signs before they merge into one onto the entrance of the highway.
In front of me I notice a black Neon didnít think too much of it. I approach the first stop sign and come to a full stop; the Neon is now approximately 100 feet away. Next stop sign he sits there for a long time. Thinking nothing of it I pull behind him and we both wait. I look both ways left and then right no vehicles. I glance at the Neon when I realize SRT4. The driver has removed the rear wing and placed some small aftermarket item, looks good. Iím now getting inpatient and blast the BMW Horn, man I love the way those horns sound. The Neon advances forward and I follow behind. Now this is the last stop sign before a ĺ km run on to the highway. The Neon slows so I decide to switch to the right lane and pass this annoying individual. As I glance at the side view of the car it looked really nice, very tastefully done. I shift into second and the Neon picks up speed.
Well we all know what that means. I decide not to shift into third just in case. The Neon lurches forward and slows down, I look ahead open highway no cars for at least 2 or 3 Kilometers. I place more pressure on the accelerator pedal the V8 comes to life revving at 4000Rpm. WOT the Neon surges forward the little 4 banger knowing itís against an engine twice itís size screaming in delight as it pulls itís body and the occupant another foot on the 540i. The driver probably grinning for ear to ear knowing that he is pulling on a BMW, thinking, ďAnother BMW bites the dustĒ.
Iím on WOT the Neon gains another foot, 5700Rpm shift into third the Neon is no longer doing the disappearing act. As my drivers window passes the Neonís passenger window, the driverís smirk now probably replaced with a horror expression. 5700Rpm shift into fourth the Neon is now reading my badge located on my rear trunk 540i and not the M5 that he probably thought. 5700Rpm shift into 5th the Neon is fading in my rearview mirror.5700Rpm shift into 6th look in the rear view mirror the Neon now is approx 1 to 2 bus length behind. I believe he has learned his lesson not only not to mess with the M5 but also keep away from the 540i.
The driver pulls along side me rolls down his window, I roll down my passenger side he honks his horn and gives me the thumbs up, I return the gesture as he is on WOT and disappears down the highway.
Iím just wondering I got him because we were both on a roll if we were going from a stand still the outcome might have been different. Darn I need the LSD for my 540i but bad.

Nice kill.
Even with an LSD, the neon is still FWD, and they make a lot of torque for a FWD car. You should be able to outlaunch him, or at least stay even off the line.
BTW, they run about the same 1/4 mile times as the e39 540i.

I have been on the site for the past few months. My buddy Shane has a Blue SRT4 that he is moding. I'm just trying to see what mods would work the best.

MINT condition.

and just in case anyone is doubting his list of vehicles, which im not saying anyone is, but for all its worth; I've personally seen all of them. except the honda 1000 (probably because its being used by someone else

BTW, thanks for letting me in on Ontario st the other day. took me a few minutes to figure out who it was.

Not a prob. It's hard to figure which vehicle I'm going to drive/ride the next day. I haven't seen you at work today or yesterday, well your car anyways.
