Exclamation E36 Exhaust Comparison Project: Read...

In the next couple of weeks or months, I'd like to put together an E36 exhaust shootout video. I know its been done by the European Car Magazine, but my comparison will be held outside in the same location.

I'm doing this because from all the exhaust videos I've seen, it's hard to determine the actual sound since everyone's camera has a different microphone setup, frequency range, or the audio quality was poorly recorded; therefore my project will give a good relative comparison of the exhaust systems out there. I will for sure need someone with a stock exhaust setup as the baseline.

I will need the following information for those interested in helping me out with this project:
Location: e.g. Toronto, Mississauga, Barrie, etc.
Model: e.g. 318/320/325/328/M3
Type of Exhaust System:

Location will be determined later and I will have planned out exactly how it will be conducted. Your time and patience will be appreciated.

I'm in as long as I get the car back together by the date that you will do your tests.

perhaps if you wanted to be very specific able the decible levels and pitch of the exhausts.... you may want to split up the categories even further.

What I mean by that is for example... I sold my stock M3 exhaust to Armando (sillye36) and it sounds way different on his car 328is, than it did on my M3 when I had it. Therefore, splitting up 328's in 1 category makes somewhat sense since inline 6 2.9L engines seem to elicit a different pitch than inline 3.2L engines.

Also, when I installed my M50 manifold, engine pitch sounded deeper and grunty and effected the exhaust (AA) mine was louder with the M50 and when I switched back to the S52 manifold, the exhaust noise tapered and smoothed out.

Also, it may be different to test the same exhaust on a 95 3.0L M3 with the M50 manifold than the OBD2 M3's 3.2L with the S52 manifold.

This is just my opinion but I have tried a couple exhausts and am very meticoulous to sound and stuff. Even an intake coupled with an exhaust sounds a little different.
