Exclamation Integra Vs. 325....Wat happened!?

I raced my 92 325is that has 40,000 miles on it with a UUC exhaust...im putting out roughly 200 HP...against my friends friend 91 Integra LS...if youre unaware of the specs on this car it has a 1.8L I4 engine with 130HP stock, with about 150,000 miles on it. I thought it would be an easy kill so I raced him. His engine looked stock but I later found out that it probably wasnt...To say the least he smoked me. Although he had a manual and I had an auto it didnt really matter all that much because in the end he beat me by at least 2-3 cars...I was more then shocked to see that he beat me and EVERYONE i talk to looks at me like I have three heads when I tell them I lost. Can anyone explain this to me. Why I lost. P.S. the kid is going around talking shit about BMW's and that he beat me AND I lost $50 bucks so im kinda pissed.

wrong section...should have put it in "need for speed"

You drive an automatic with roughly 200hp and he drives a 5 speed with 130hp. Well, he most likely did not have a regular Integra engine in it. Might have been a type R, GSR, or maybe a Prelude engine? Did you see the engine?

a 92 325 with an exhaust doesn't have 200hp

preludes especially the 5th gen are VERY heavy so i'm not suprised that a light ass integra whopped it. As for whopping ur 325...he probably had an engine swap...

The problem is that your 325 has the auto transmission and that with the vanos motor which lacks torque at the lower rpms where you need it when you do a start with an auto transmission.

You still should have probably won, so there are many possibilities, either your car isn't runing as it should, or he had a swap or who knows maybe a little shot of nitrous.

Personnaly I raced this types of integra that had like intake/exhaust and I was faster then them, didn't destroy them but faster and that was when I was completly stock with bad ignition coils and 18" wheels.

So check your car, plugs/ignition coils/engine compression/gaz pressure and check his car for a swap or nitrous.

Oh no! the old Japanese versus Bmw battles are happening again! *rolls eyes* Well coming from someone who has actually owned both those cars 1992, 1993 325is and a 1990 x 3, 1991 Integra I'm not suprised. Integras feel wayyy quicker off the line - maybe it is the overall lightness of the car, the revy engines or the gearing which comes into play - probably all of those factors Versus the Rear wheel drive BMw which is a way heavier car, with a lot more weight in its driveline plus yours is a auto transmission (I wont pass judgement on your sexuality here)

Stock, brand new I think a 325is will run 0-60 maybe low 7s, probably low 8s if its an automatic. Pretty sure a 2nd gen integra will run about 8 seconds with a manual transmission and thats stock.

So factor in your slushbox versus someone who knows how to launch an integra and its a no-brainer.

BMWs aren't meant for drag racing (its been said before). You'd probably kill him on the highway but thats another story

Yeah i figured, I knew that his car was light and thats wat he had over me...and everyones comments make sense its just that he beat me by so much that it was just not right. I know Jap cars and his engine and in my opinion I think that he had an engine swap or nitrous, but thats just me...Just sucks to lose to an integra like that. And I bought the car for its miles and condition not the tranny...ill soon have a manual.

i doubt he swapped an engine, my buddy has one of those 5sp integras, i drive a 92 325is 5sp. chipped, i did pull a little bit off the line, but after about 100km we started to sepperate a little more... so i doubt anything was wrong with your car, it was just the slushbox, perhaps in higher speeds you would have cought up...

ps. i took a 5.0L stang on the highway from 120-220km the other day, that was fun...

^^^ True. And to be honest I actually prefer the second generation to the third one. The new ones are nice but seem flabby in comparison

So what did you find out?

U probably lost because of the slushbox, get a stick.
Most of the time, it's all about the driver...
Stock '91 Teg: 130hp/121 lbs.-ft torque.
Your '92 325is: "200hp"? 181 lbs.-ft torque.
